Requirements used in Spain

Institutions assess the prior qualification, transcript and teaching-language evidence. For an official bachelor's degree, applicants from EU education systems, from countries with a reciprocity agreement, or with the International or European Baccalaureate obtain UNEDasiss accreditation, while applicants from other education systems must first apply to have their secondary qualification homologated to the Spanish Bachiller. Official master's degrees require a degree that gives access to postgraduate study in the issuing country. Spanish-taught programmes commonly ask for Spanish evidence such as DELE or SIELE, while English-taught programmes set their own accepted tests.

Which access route applies to you

• EU education systems, countries with a reciprocity agreement, and the International or European Baccalaureate: UNEDasiss accreditation, with no homologación needed for access.
• Other education systems: homologación of your secondary qualification to the Spanish Bachiller by the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, then UNEDasiss accreditation based on it.
• Master's degrees: a bachelor's degree from the European Higher Education Area gives access; a degree from elsewhere can be accepted without homologación after the university checks its level.
• Doctoral programmes: normally a master's degree, with the university checking the level of a foreign degree.

Documents to prepare

• A passport valid for the whole application and visa process.
• Secondary or university certificates and full transcripts, legalised with an Apostille or through consular legalisation, depending on the issuing country.
• Sworn translations into Spanish (traducción jurada) of documents not in Spanish, when the university or authority asks for them.
• Evidence of the teaching language: DELE or SIELE for Spanish, or the English tests the programme accepts.
• Anything the programme adds, such as a portfolio, CV, motivation letter or entrance test.

Language evidence

English-taught and local-language programmes may set different language requirements. Use the individual programme record and confirm accepted tests with the institution.

Recognition and certification

Document recognition, translation and legalisation depend on where the qualification was issued. Follow the institution's checklist and the competent authority named by Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
