UCAM, the Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia, is a private Catholic university canonically erected in 1996 and built around five stated pillars: teaching, research, evangelisation, sport and internationalisation. Its main campus occupies the eighteenth-century Monastery of Los Jerónimos, a national historic-artistic monument with a baroque church, about four kilometres from the centre of Murcia in the district of Guadalupe; further campuses operate in Cartagena and Madrid, alongside ESESA Málaga, UCAM Online and the UCAM Spanish Sports University. The university enrols more than 21,300 students, of whom some 3,000 are international students representing 115 nationalities, and it graduates around 6,000 students a year while running over 7,000 company internships. Degrees span health sciences, law, sport, education, business, communication, marketing, engineering, tourism and languages, delivered on campus, blended or online, with bachelor's, official master's, professional training and doctoral routes. Small groups and a personal tutor for every student are central to its teaching model, and it holds a five-star QS Stars rating. UCAM is placed in the 1201-1400 band of the QS World University Rankings and the 1201-1500 band of Times Higher Education, ranks 51-100 worldwide for sports science, and is consistently listed among Spain's top ten private universities.
